Sad Announcement

It is yet another sad time for all of us at Rebels, and each and every driver we have ever had over the last 18 years to say good bye to a Rebel Stalwart and keen supporter. Bev Greenhalf passed away on Tuesday evening 10th of January.
Bev was a big supporter of our cars from the off, and he together with very few others had the vision of what we have become today, His enthusiasm helped us to grow with his unwavering support and trust of the promoters.
It is most likely that each and every one of the hundreds of drivers we have had in our cars including hirers have had their name mentioned during his commentaries of the on track action, he was always particular to mention each driver somewhere and somehow during a meeting, such was his professionalism.
Bev also enjoyed our social side and was present at many of our famous award nights.
Rebels will honour the passing of such an oval racing fanatic in some way in the near future and I will pass on our condolences to his widow and daughter.

2011 World Champion - Steve Shaw

After a lot of thought my family and I  have made the huge decision to retire from Rebels Racing. It was a difficult decision as we have had an enjoyable time over then 11 yeas racing and had lots of success. We have met a lot of friends during our time in Rebels and it has been a pleasure racing with you all. However, times change and before its too late I would like to have a go at racing another  formula. I would like to say thank you to Bev at BJS Motors, for all of his help over the years, he is a true friend along with his son Dave (Did). Thanks also to Hans for the great years of racing, I don’t think he understands how he has made so many peoples dreams come true, good luck to the man who has bought my car (he has a lot to live up to!!!) I am sure he is going to do well. See you at the presentation evening…361.

We are sure all of the drivers will join with us in wishing Steve success in his new venture.   It goes without saying that Steve and his Team have been great ambassadors for the sport and will be missed. Good Luck Steve.

Thursday’s meeting will be the final World Qualifying Round before the big race at Northampton on 9th September, with only 13 points between Adam Joyce and Steve Shaw for the all important pole position there is no saying which man will take the lead.

The East Coast Championship, currently led by 78 Shane Geary comes to a close on Monday, can Shane go all the way and take the title for the second time in his Rebel career?
Following his impressive 7 out of 8 race wins earlier on in the year at Skegness, 25 Anthony Masters leads the track championship by 88 points, The ultimate Championship up for grabs this weekend is the Skeggy Rebel Treble, won last year by Steve Shaw, the winner of Monday’s final race will take the title, and the grid will be based on the points scored in all races over the three day event. TYRES

Next season will see an introduction of yet another tyre, We, together with the generous help of Keith Hayden have been working away in the background for eighteen months trying to persuade Fulda to make us some more, in fact as long ago as August of last year that tyre has been unavailable, but anticipating that, meant buying in more than a whole years supply at once and obviously that stock has diminished to now only 47. We have an alternative available to us now, and we are still looking at other solutions, but the tyre we know we can get, on an ongoing basis has been tested by Darren Clark at Coventry in 2008 and found to be absolutely useless, whilst performing brilliantly on wet and dry tarmac, as such we are not booking any Shale meetings for 2011 and will continually review the situation.  As before, we anticipate introducing these over time, with pairs having to be bought when the Fulda runs out, But as we did in the past, by the time of the WWR the whole car will have to be on them to ensure a level playing field.
